I'm a retired EFL teacher and currently an online and f2f teacher trainer in Web 2.0 tools. I taught English for 33 years at most levels. I live and work from home in a small town in the suburbs of Lisbon, Portugal. In January 2002, I joined the Webheads in Action for the EVOnline 8-week teacher development workshop - yes, back then it was 8 weeks!!! - and since then I've been actively involved in the cyberworld of education! I've been coordinator and moderator of BaW with Dafne González since 2004. It's the longest-running EVO workshop celebrating its "10th Anniversary" this year. So far we've reached 2800 colleagues in 104 countries. I also co-moderate with Dafne the TESOL Principles and Practices Certificate Program course "Teaching Vocabulary and Grammar Online". Larisa Olesova
I am Larisa Olesova from Yakutsk (Russia), but I live and work in Washington, DC (USA). I have been teaching EFL and ESP at North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk since 1989. I still have an opportunity to teach my students in Yakutsk. How? Of course - by using all available technologies today! I am teaching online a lot. I am still excited to see how the world is getting smaller and closer through technologies. Today, I widely use online collaboration between classes in Yakutsk and in the United States. I am in EVO almost since 2003 and I always try to attend all EVO sessions at TESOL. I have been involved into Becoming a Webhead since 2009. In 2010, I had an opportunity to moderate one of the BAW sessions devoted to online chat and conferences with my colleague from Brazil Jose Antonio. Then, I moderated the week on interactive activities in 2011 with my friend from Russia Valentina. Thanks to invitation of my best friend Teresa from Lisbon, Portugal I was able to open the EVO world online! I am looking forward to another round of exciting events and discussions!
I'm Ayat Tawel, an EFL senior teacher from Cairo, Egypt. I have been teaching different age groups and levels for more than twelve years. I'm currently teaching young learners. My main interests are online teaching & learning, using web 2.0 tools in teaching and enhancing creativity in the classroom.
Joining BaW 11 was a turning point in my professional development and social life too. It has opened a door to a wonderful world full of amazing wonders and helpful language educators & friends. It's not just learning about new web 2.0 tools that you can apply in your teaching practice, but it also plans your life-long journey of PD. Since that time, I have conducted some successful international collaboration projects with teachers from different countries around the world and presented about them in online and f2f events and conferences. So, BaW is just the starting point to life after BaW which will be great !!! I have also gained many wonderful friends whom you will meet in BaW13 too !!
I'm very excited about joining such a wonderful group of webheads as a moderator for the second year. I'll be co-moderating weeks 2 & 3 ! Hope you all enjoy learning, and sharing in Baw13 !!
